If you go to google.com and do a search for just about anything and look to the right of the results, you will see 'sponsored adverts'. The sponsored adverts are basically peoples adword adverts. So if you placed some adword adverts on the search network, they would be appearing there. The content network adword adverts are basically what you can see on the right of this page. This is entirely up to you and will really be dependant on the product/service you are offering. You control the maximum you are willing to spend per click (customisable for each keyword). The higher the bid, the better the positioning and in theory, more traffic you will generate. However, even cheap clicks generate traffic. You are also able to set the maximum CPC (cost per click) independently between content and search. All you have to do is sign up, enter your payment details and you are ready.
